A well-established, homely nursery in the heart of Worthing
Puddleducks Day Nursery is a warm, well-established nursery that’s been caring for Worthing’s children for many years, with a team of long-standing, familiar faces. Set in a large Victorian house in a quiet residential area, just minutes from the seafront and town centre, we care for children from 3 months to 5 years – and we’re open 51 weeks of the year, from 8am to 6pm, with holiday care available for children up to 8 years.
We’re close to parks and many schools, fall within catchment for local primary schools, and sit near plenty of bus and train routes – with ample on-site parking to make your drop-offs and pick-ups easy.
What makes us different
At Puddleducks, children’s days are full of first-hand experiences. Our team is trained to offer a Beach School experience on outings – a unique, sensory way to learn by the sea – alongside visits to the local library and children and family centre.
We explore a range of dance through Diddi Dance sessions, capture life cycles by hatching our very own ducklings, and fill each week with exciting opportunities to explore, create and try something new. A balance of free play and adult-led, planned activities gives children a rounded, holistic start and strong foundations for the rest of their lives.
Our Team
Our nursery is led by our Nursery Manager, Samantha Spencer, supported by Deputy Manager Lauren Bird. Both hold their Level 3 in Early Years and bring many years’ experience in early years care. Sam and the team are filled with enthusiasm and a genuine passion for teaching – devoted to providing exceptional childcare, and to finding and keeping the kind of staff who really go the extra mile.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe, warm, stimulating environment, with the very best nurturing, education and care for every child. We believe children can do anything when they’re given the opportunity – so we help them become independent, confident learners who are happy to make their own choices and share their own feelings, thoughts and ideas.

Puddleducks Day Nursery is proud to be rated Good by Ofsted following our latest inspection. We achieved Good ratings across all areas assessed.
Inspectors noted that our staff create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel happy, safe and secure, with delightful relationships between children and the adults who care for them.

Settling In
A gentle, personal start
Starting nursery can feel daunting – for children and parents alike – and we take great care to make it a treasured beginning to a long-lasting partnership. We pride ourselves on knowing our children extremely well, so when a new child joins, we take the time to get to know them, help them feel safe, and earn a place in their play, building a trusting, secure relationship at each child’s own pace.
Flexible pre-start sessions
Before your child starts, we offer a flexible pre-start session at a time that suits you. You’re warmly invited to stay with your child and spend this time with your key person, who’ll want to learn as much about your child as possible – because you know them best, and sharing that with us is vital.
We usually arrange this the week before your child starts, so the nursery and staff feel familiar with no long gap before their first day. We’ve found that this focused approach helps children settle far more easily and with much less anxiety, whatever their age – and we’re always on hand to answer any question, however small.
Your child’s key person
Every child is assigned a key person, who forms that first special bond and helps you and your child feel safe, welcome and secure. Once that bond is formed, your child grows confident to explore, seek out new experiences and build friendships with other children and staff. Your key person is always there as your point of contact, and keeps your child’s learning journey – shared with you regularly through our secure online app.

At Puddleducks Day Nursery we feel that working in unison with parents/carers is part of the seamless continuity which enables us to provide a stimulating, inspirational and nurturing environment. Working together promotes positive relationships between us and our families, having this relationship embedded enables trust and reliability to form. This in turn allows our parents/carers to have full confidence that their children are having exciting and varied experiences offered to them in a safe, welcoming, home from home environment, giving them a huge sense of belonging and fulfilment.
