Settling in
Settling in is a very important part of starting at a new nursery so you and your child are both relaxed and happy. All children will react differently to being left for the first time so it will depend on your child.

Puddleducks offers flexible settling in visits. This is two, two hour sessions where you accompany your child for the first 2 hour pre-start and stay with them - giving them a sence of reassurance until they begin to develop positive relationships with our brilliant staff. This will also give you the opportunity to meet your child's main carers and your childs key person, relaying any information however important of insignificant - the smallest thing like how your child likes to be comforted, or a sound they use to mean something can make all the difference to helping them settle in and helping you feel reassured that they will be getting the best care possible.
The 2nd pre-start is designed for you to leave your child, just for an hour and let them familiarise them selves with their carers and their new environment. This is a good preparation for when they start their sessions with us.

Of course all children are different and some do find it more difficult to settle in a unfamiliar environment, because we want your child to be happy and content to enable them to get the most out of joining us a nursery we will provide more settling in visits as and when necessary free of charge this will be discussed with you.

Leaving your child in a new setting will ultimately be difficult for you as Parents/ Carers, we have a number of staff who have their own children so understand how stressful this can be. We at Puddleducks have very open and friendly relationships with our Parents/ Carers so they feel valued, included and most of all confident that their child will be cared for in the best way possible. We encourage parents/ Carers to really engage in conversations with us to ensure that you settle in as well as your child!

Parent/ carers relationships
We pride our selves in having built wonderful relationships with our parents/ carers. We really encourage and support parents/ carers to engage in professional but welcoming relationships with all of our staff. Practitioners and Senior practitioners are always on hand, and Management are always on sight for any questions, suggestions, support or just a friendly chat! We have regular parent memos and updates for all parents as well as informative notice boards in all parts of the nursery. To build successful relationships we ask that Parents/ Carers work with us to ensure the best practise, care and above all else fun for the children in our care!
